Australia has to be one of the finest places in the world for people who want to get off the beaten track, whether it is overland travel or adventure 4×4 and off-roading.
Significant areas of the country are largely unpopulated, with remote rural communities, that are serviced by unsealed roads and tracks. Many of these are accessible to the aspiring overlander in the dry season using an ordinary all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle.
Another advantage of Australia being so vast is that camping opportunities are everywhere, even in less remote areas there are normally National Park campsites, which are extremely cheap. Other options include cheap Motels, Hotels, Airbnbs and Road houses.
