Western Europe including Southwestern Europe, i.e. Spain and Portugal, offers some of the easiest road trip and overland travel with no border complexities and a single currency.
If you do the planning right there are even areas where you can travel on unpaved roads alone, in the historical footsteps of Ancient Romans, the paths of the silk road and also the sentry posts of Mussolini’s troops.
Although Western Europe is busy, it is possible to have authentic and isolated travels.
Happy Overlanding.
