Adršpach-Teplice Rocks National Nature Reserve
While we were in the Czech Republic in August 2010, during our summer holidays we stayed in Teplice Nad Metuji, part of a National Park around the Adrspach area which is a very nice place to visit and go hiking.
Teplice nad Metuji Town
Teplice nad Metuji is a charming town in the Czech Republic’s Hradec Králové region and serves as a welcoming gateway to the renowned Adršpach-Teplice Rocks National Nature Reserve. This sprawling natural wonderland captivates visitors with its extraordinary sandstone formations, a result of millions of years of geological processes.
Adršpach-Teplice Rocks
The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Towering rock towers, narrow canyons, and hidden grottoes create a mesmerizing labyrinth waiting to be explored. Hikers can traverse the trails, some of which are challenging, that wind through the rocky terrain, while those seeking a watery experience can enjoy rafting on the Metuje River, which meanders through the town and into the heart of the reserve.

Hiking in the Rock Formations

The park itself is home to sandstone formations that have been paired with famous monuments and people in name, it covers 17 km square in the Bohemia area of the Northern Czech Republic.
All the trails are well marked out and walking maps are easily available we had a 1:16000 map which was great.

Rock Formations and Hike
Here are a few pictures from our hike, which took most of the day. The route included some exciting ladders and steps. We had great fun trying to make out what the rock formations looked like or represented.
