We spent just under a week in Tokyo, from the moment we left the airport to the moment we jumped into the car to explore Japan beyond the City of Tokyo and head around the rest of Japan. Here are the top 10 free things we did, for you to do in Tokyo.

1. Imperial Palace

The Imperial Palace is a must-see attraction in Tokyo, and the best part is that it’s completely free to visit. The palace is located in the heart of Tokyo city and was once the residence of the Emperor of Japan. Although visitors are not allowed to enter the palace itself, you can walk around the palace gardens and admire the stunning architecture from the outside. The East Garden is open to the public and features a traditional Japanese garden, ponds, and a bridge. It’s a tranquil oasis in the middle of the city, and a perfect spot for a picnic or a relaxing stroll, there are plenty of places to chill out and soak up the atmosphere.
