Willow Park RV Campground: Free Riverside Camping Near Rosedale
Willow Park RV Campground offers a convenient free stopover near Rosedale in Gippsland Victoria just off the Princes Freeway (A1). We stopped here on our way to the Snowy River National Park, late on a Friday night having tried to get out of Melbourne asap for a long weekend overland trip.
The park is located on the banks of the La Trobe River, this spacious rest area offers a place to stop overnight for weary travellers, within easy access to the Princes Highway.

Our Experience
Willow Park is a great option for a quick overnight stay, but we would advise you to seek an alternative if possible. Due to the proximity to the freeway and the bridge over the La Trobe river, this campground is very noisy for most of the night. Not sure what the town planners were thinking!
Having said this, the campground is large, grassy and otherwise pleasant, with plenty of space for caravans, motorhomes, and tents. There is also a covered shelter with picnic tables and BBQs.
The short walk into Rosedale along the scenic trail is a pleasant way to stretch your legs and explore the town. We highly recommend visiting the Smokehouse 81 for dinner. The food was very good and the portions were so big that we ended up taking the leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day!
